This year, 2017, the Chinese New Year celebrates the Year of the Rooster.

The rooster is the tenth sign in the Chinese Zodiac chart and symbolizes faithfulness and reliability.

Those born under this sign tend to be self-sufficient, diligent, honest, kind and funny. They tend to be great writers and public speakers. They are also, of course, prompt and consistent just as a rooster must be. On the other side of their personalities, ‘roosters’ can be arrogant, overconfident and proud.

Multi-tasking, high energy and confidence are some of the roosters’ best traits and lead to some wonderful careers in politics, entertainment, law enforcement, athletics, sales and public relations.
Roosters are most compatible with the snake and ox, and least compatible with the pig, rabbit, horse and rat.

Some public figures born under the sign of the monkey are: Catherine the Great, Amelia Earhart, Groucho Marx, Anna Kournikova, Justin Timberlake, Bette Midler, Roger Federer, Serena Williams, Rudyard Kipling, Matthew McConaughey, Justin Timberlake, and Jennifer Aniston.

On this page there are three examples of jade rooster jewelry. On the right is a carved green jadeite jade purse charm with green, red and yellow jadeite bead accents (Style #335493).

There are two rooster carvings shown on the left. The yellow jadeite jade rooster carving is vivid and translucent (Style #338838), and the green-yellow rooster pendant is also highly translucent (Style #086609), and both are beautifully carved.
