Jewelry Trends: Jade Cocktail Rings

Cocktail rings have become an important jewelry essential. The cocktail ring is not only a newly revived fashion statement, but actually has historical significance. During the days of prohibition, between 1920-1933, there were many underground ‘cocktail parties’ at speakeasy clubs. This offered the in vogue lady of the day a chance to flaunt her glamorous and modern style. It became fashionable to wear over-sized rings to these new nightclubs, which were soon labeled ‘cocktail rings’. The designs were bold and colorful and promptly became a fashion trend and status symbol.

Cocktail rings continued to be popular into the 1940′s and 1950′s and have once again been revived by celebrities and fashion gurus. The cocktail ring was the predecessor and catalyst for the right hand ring. Both the cocktail ring and right hand ring are very popular and can be a very powerful display of fashion and style.

Floral motifs and large gemstone styles tend to be successful styles.
